La Letteratura Portoghese. I testi e le idee

This book is an anthology of literary texts and essays in Portuguese, followed by new translations in Italian, which aims to provide the Italian reader, through a new critical and conceptual framework, the primary sources and contexts essential for "thinking "- as well as to read - Portuguese literature. The book advocates a re-periodization of literary documents, read in order to open up to new worlds that Portugal has contributed to establish. The national history is marked by the counterpoint of a triple imperial theory that determines the profile  - Asia in the sixteenth century, Brazil in particular between the ) endof the seventeenth century and the beginning of the nineteenth century, Africa between the ) endof the nineteenth century and much of the twentieth century. Portuguese culture still shows a crease between the eulogy of nationalism of the nation-empire and the historical weakness of a small marginal European homeland: a trait that greatly affects both the forms of self-representation and the size and timings of the colonial geographies. Between the Atlantic and Europe, Portugal, over the centuries, has made its literature the great archive in which the emblems of its greatness (often imagined) and the ruins of its history are deposited.

Excepção Atlântica. Pensar a Literatura da Guerra Colonial

To reflect upon the colonial war literature is also a way to re-read it. In it, there are hidden or suppressed traces that allude to a past that still eludes the foundation of a shared memory. In effect, the discomfortable experience of the colonial war provides the relevant theoretical and imagistic groundwork for a conceivable genealogy of identification of a nation and an empire shattered, suspended between the non-fillable loss of self-awareness imprints and the vertigo of a feasible  absolute palingenesis. The text corpus of war literature is reconsidered from critical, melancholic, testimonial, residual, tragic-modern, traumatic, and biopolitical paradigms which seek to locate rather than to complete absences and losses of knowledge. At stake is the tragic and ragged threshold of an ongoing tension between colonialism and what followed after and beyond it. The uniqueness of war allows us to think in multiple directions, but mainly as a dismantlement of the category of political philosophy. This, in turn, allows us to develop, through the reconfiguration paradigm practiced in the book, a direct criticism of the Atlantic exceptionalism of the Luso-Tropicalist review regarding the disbanded empire. What is (always) missing is thinking Portugal.  

Antologia da memória poética da Guerra Colonial

"A Antologia da Memória Poética da Guerra Colonial reúne perto de 350 poemas escritos sobre a Guerra Colonial. A par de um conjunto de poetas consagrados que vivenciaram a Guerra Colonial ou se inspiraram no tema, a obra mostra um grande número de autores que tinham os seus poemas dispersos pela imprensa regional, revistas, publicações militares ou nas pouco divulgadas edições de autor. A antologia destaca ainda a existência de um número significativo de mulheres que escreveram sobre este assunto. "Para além dos macro-temas-imagens tradicionais da cartografia de uma poesia de guerra ocidental e que esta antologia também contempla - Partidas e Regressos, Quotidianos, Morte, Memória da Guerra, Pensar a Guerra, Cancioneiro - desenham-se dois tópicos mais específicos desta guerra: Contra a Guerra e o Dever da Guerra." A finalizar apenas dois poemas na secção Ainda que assinalam a permanência da guerra em nós. "Pontuando estas divisões, e dialogando profundamente com a dor comum que percorre todos os poemas, um outro "texto": as fotografias de Manuel Botelho extraídas do seu trabalho sobre a Guerra Colonial "Confidencial e Desclassificado", da série "Ração de Combate"."

Atlântico periferico: il postcolonialismo portoghese e il sistema mondiale

Atlântico Periférico analisa o caso português a partir de um horizonte de resistência global contra-hegemónica oposta à globalização neoliberal. Desde as cantigas de amigo até ao século XXI, uma antologia que é uma nova leitura da história da literatura portuguesa. Um olhar estrangeiro ainda mais português. 

É uma obra monumental A Literatura Portuguesa. Modos de ler de Roberto Vecchi e Vincenzo Russo. Uma obra que subentende um esforço enorme e exige uma leitura lenta, com muita atenção, devido à imagem que transmite da nossa literatura. 

E de nós próprios. Tenho a certeza que esta obra não passará desapercebida e será estudada profundamente, como uma espécie de bíblia da nossa cultura, os olhares de outrem debruçados sobre nós e isso é naturalmente de importância capital em particular para nós portugueses. 

Porque esta obra coloca assim em xeque ou mesmo até desmancha as nossas queixas, a nossa espécie de lamúria de que ninguém nos vê, convencidos que somos um caco da Europa, esquecido e disperso.
